PT – PENETRANT TESTING

This capillary method is quite popular when testing the quality of surface of various materials. The test focuses only on the defects of materials communicating with the surface.

The capillary method is used to visualise flaws directly related to the surface, such as pores and cracks. It requires specific temperature and quality of the tested surface. The testing is done on various types of materials– metallic and non-metallic.

It is not possible to use the method to identify internal, confined defects.

Both colouring and fluorescent methods are available. The means used meet the criteria of austenitic steel inspection.
