ECA - EDDY CURRENT ARRAY

Eddy current array (ECA) is an advanced examination method. Similarly to UTPA the probe consists of a number of ultrasound transducers – here the ECA probe comprises many pick up coils. Thanks to the high number of coils on the probe surface we can check large areas, and make both encoded or non-encoded record. The output is 2D or 3D display of the examined surface with visibly indicated defects.

Major advantage is the possibility to adjust to the surface shape. The method can be successfully used to check blades, shafts, pipes and other materials thanks to the flexible probes. Major advantage is the possibility to test through non-conductive coating – excellent alternative to MT and PT methods.
