MFL - MAGNETIC FLUX LEAKAGE

Heating exchanger pipelines made from magnetic materials, with fins to increase the effective surface, or internal tubes, with a very small distance of support plates, can be checked using MFL method. There is virtually no other relevant method of ordinary operating inspection. This method serves mainly the purpose of finding local and surface corrosion or erosion damages. Probes include very strong permanent magnets; therefore caution is advised.

The inspection focuses on the condition of newly installed pipes, and during their operation. By comparing the results after certain period of operation with the initial condition it is possible to determine the trends and predicts life span of the piping. With this method it is convenient to compare the measured results with previous measuring.
