TAKING AND EVALUATION OF REPLICAS

The lab’s activities include the evaluation of micro-structure without samples, i.e. without physical presence of the sample in the lab. In many cases – e.g. with devices damaged by creep – samples can be taken only exceptionally, when the equipment is replaced.

Replica means replication of the surface using the capture of surface imprint to be processed in the lab.

Following the evaluation of the replicas residual life of the equipment can be established, i.e. remaining time of operation. Both the basic materials and welded joints are tested. Typical examples: high-pressure steam pipelines in power and heating stations.
